The Ray-Ons - Lipstick Pickup Lines 7" (Estrus)
The Ray-Ons are a fabulous garage combo outta Denver, CO that
pound through four snotty tracks about fast cars, fast women and
high octane beverages. My tastes lean more towards surf than
garage, but this is one release that spent a load of time on my
turntable. Estrus Crust Club members got this on green vinyl. I
can't wait to hear more from these guys in the future.

Reverb - Velocity Fall 7" (Badlands)
"If there is any life remaining in English music they have
it."
Reverb play pop-punk with a strong sense of melody which the
Brits just seem to have a knack for. "Velocity Fall"
reminded me a bit of Ride back in their prime, while the flip
side adds a bit of noise and attitude to their sound. For all of
you Echo & The Bunnymen completists, the A-side was produced
by Will Sergeant, now of Electrafixion and Glide. Of you have a
stereotype of British pop set in your mind, this 7" is sure
to shatter it. (Badlands Records, 11 St. Georges Place,
Cheltenham, Glos, GL50 3LA, England.) (Hmmm...#7)
The Royal Knightmares - The Royal Knightmares 7" (Solamente) Solamente does it again - this time with a five track EP by Italy's Royal Knightmares. If you love vintage instrumental surf from the early 60's you are gonna love this. The gear and the studio they used on this is perfect. Some will call it lo-fi, but if you're gonna get all snippety about the vintage sound you have no business reading this rag. The 'Knightmares and Solamente give you a nice 'bang for the buck' with five great tunes on one 7". It includes: Beach Bunny at the Bikers' Party, Thunder Beach Stomp, Sunset at Pebble Cove, The Surfink and Hawaiian Moon Walk. Pressed on red vinyl with sleeve artwork by Merinuk. (Continental #5)
The Royal Pendletons - The Royal Pendletons 7" (Blood Red) You can't beat the raw intensity of this Nawlins four-piece. Recorded by Jack Oblivion in Memphis, TN, the home of rock n' roll, they rip through four lo-fi garage stompers. Instro fans will dig the slightly surfy Keg Tapper. Garage fans will love their cover of ? and the Mysterians Hangin' On A String. Something for everyone - buy this today!! (Continental #5)
