Here's what the press has said about 'Mundaka Calls':

Album 2 from the Kilaueas displays a big step forward. Well developed songs with a very attractive sound, consistently performed and mixed. There's lots here for the surf fan, particularly is you're a sucker for the damped reverbed rhythm, like me.

The Kilaueas a German band found their origin in a Hawaiian volcanic eruption. The magma outburst was completely unnoticed by the rest of the world, but somehow ended up in Stuttgart, Germany. Ralf, Volker, Oli and Tom have only one mission in their lives… Surf Rules and will continue to rule the world for the next couple of decades. Heavily inspired by those original surf bands, The Kilaueas brings you an original surf sound, straight from the previous century. From the time that ponytails & miniskirts ruled come tunes like “Black Phantom Twang”, “Black Sands” or “Hula Roach”

Mundaka Calls is the second album for the The Kilaueas, and it is a mixture of savage, out of this world tunes, twangy guitars & original covers. 16 great tracks with covers from Duke Ellington, Tschaikovsky or the Atlantics, but above all with 12 original tunes. It’s a big step forward for the band with this second one. The mix is much better & the music is more coherent. Actually there’s a lot in here if you are into surf music. Opener “Rumble and run” original an Atlantics tune is a great cover, and give us high hopes for the rest of the album. N° 3 is one of my favourite picks. “ Black Phantom Twang” is a very melodic and rhythmic song. That’s what surf is all about. Another great tune is “Luna Tiki”. Double picked melodies with a damped surf rhythm underneath it and above all a haunted guitar…what more can you expect. “Caravan”, the Duke Ellington tune has always been one of my favourites and here they bring this classic song to a new level… Les Paul meets Duke Ellington on top of the Kilauea Vulcan !!! Cool stuff. And what too think of “Hula Roach”, another great surf track with lots of guitars to enhance the surf feeling.

So if you are into surf music and lot’s of reverb then you will like this band and their classic approach of the music.
