The Boss Martians

Based in Seattle, WA, this surf n' hot-rod combo cooks with a great mix of instrumental and vocal favorites. They have four full length CD's out to date: The Boss Martians (Dionysus), The Jetaway Sounds Of The Boss Martians (Hillsdale), 13 Evil Tales (Dionysus) and Invasion Of The Live Boss Martians (Vagrant). They also have eight 7" releases out, including 'The Intoxicating Sounds Of The Boss Martians' that we released in the fall of 1997. They will appear on two upcoming Double Crown Records compilations: 'Takin' Out The Trash: A Tribute To The Trashmen' and 'Seasonal Favorites, Volume 1'.

Here's what the press has said about 'The Intoxicating Sounds Of The Boss Martians':

"The Boss Martians are a boss instrumental band" -Joe Ehrbar, The Rocket

"Seattle's Boss Martians serve up four very traditional surf tunes including one christened 'The Continental Theme'. Can't remember the last label that had a theme song. Guitarist Evan Foster, one of the smoothest surf pickers in the biz, wrote all four tracks, the best of which is 'Highball At Hatties', a boss instro that melds the 60's instro approach with Phil Spector-like 1-2-3-4 tamborine. All four tracks are great fun. These guys just keep getting better & better." -D.J. Johnson, Cosmik Debris

"The sounds here are of the emotionally-charged, refined surf variety: melodic guitar with controlled reverb supported by a touch of sixties organ." -Alan Taylor, Pipeline Magazine

"An aptly titled (three of four songs are about alcohol) four song 7" of solid classic surf. The guitar/organ combo, strong drums and solid bass make this a fun single." -Roy Konitzer, Bullhorn Webzine

"Reverb-heavy instros from four guys outta Seattle that inspire a night out on the town drinking." -Make Room

"The facotr of surf-authenticity that this captures is the dichotomy between the clan cut look/feel of the musicians and the debauchery that was inherent to the scene/music. Good dichotomy, dude!" -Rocktober
